The face of a woman

Model Lexi Boling is styled by Carolyn Murphy in pure femininity for 'Blithe Spirit'. Photographer Sebastian Sabal-Bruce is behind the lens for Porter Magazine #26 Summer 2018./ Hair by Edward Lampley; makeup by Allie Smith.

I imagine the day like a face of a woman,
the mornings so much defined
with exposures and brightness,
polaroids of crimson sky
and the heaviness comes like her mind,
i can paint this lady on my canvas,

yawns in the afternoons,
doping shadows
watching the food vividly left in the kitchen
she knows nobody
but a raisin stuck to her mouth

The flower would lust water by evening
and the lady would nurture it,
each color so distinct,
each seed – a subservience
each leaf unfolding unique stories

by night, light fades away
into a shade of something darker
of gentle strokes disappearing
flooding her mouth, her memories with aesthetics.

The heaviness puts her arm into a state of nostalgia
a perfect blend of papers & ink.
But then we know how things end
with a flustered love for trees,
half filled glass of all things love.z

  1. Apologies for my absence. I have been struggling with so many issues.

Reading this profound piece made me feel like I haven’t read poetry in months.
MVS don’t know how it is possible. You always keep your writing so fresh, so new and inspiring. xo

  2. Loved this…it’s not deep..but you impressed with beautiful metaphors … comparing the woman’s face with the daylight is soo beautiful ❀️❀️..and then how vividly you expressed the features of day and the women…and you started telling her dialy routine in much realism and poetic way..it’s such a unique mixture of your writing..by the afternoon the yawns and raisnin in throat..and vividly expressing about the left over food…this is such a different way of writing about woman and her afternoon lunch…that’s brilliant…I mean only few who has command over the body mind and writing can only do that with ease..and the the lines plants listing the wate and women nurturing it..and.thennyiu didn’t stopped..you told about the details of plant…and the last one about nights..how you feel heavy…yes everyone does that but refekcting that heavy thoughts into arm and spilling throu hand on paper with ink was one very good way of expressing…this is another brilliant piece I liked ..I am actually searching for more if the depth in this piece..but still I really enjoyed it
