Catharsis

Image result for pain art

I have selfish bruises on my white index finger,

Quisling pack of cigarettes yet my favourite lover,

I have pain carved around my parched mouth,

Thorns and roses bloom in my inner thigh

I have seen death with open eye

An extension of chewed electrons of despair

assiduous diamond of shaved flower,

This moment is death, this moment is an Odious ball of catharsis.

  1. Oh gosh, your use of catharsis here is gut wrenching. From the title to the closing words, the depth of anguish is palpable. The treason of those cigarettes juxtaposed with its role as being a favorite lover – the very thing you love with the ability to kill you with every draw. Your recurring images of pain carved round a parched mouth and rose thorns in your thighs unify the way you feel fain. It makes the reader crave water and balm to soothe the thorny pricks.I love your use of electrons for they are negatively charged and the image of chewing them adds to the darkness of this piece. And your ending line, the revolting release of emotions. Devika, your words resonate with me and sit in my stomach, churning over and over because I felt every one. This is such profound poetry, so well written and laced with the most stunning imagery. Awesome!!!!!!! I love it ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. This is the feedback that I wait for. To be honest I wrote this with all my true emotion and I knew you will resonate with it. I am not happy though we feel that but the expression is well explained by you.

      1. I’ve been waiting for you to write and always look forward to spending time with your words. They always speak to me at great depths, taking me to places that are often familiar. From depths of love and passion to those deep wells of despair, hurt and anguish, we poets must live with all emotions for it is our duty to give them voices. And, Devika, your voice is just beautiful and profound, always!

There are moments when everything is numb and we feel that pain right in our soul and mouth.
Thankyou so much for loving this and sharing your insights. They are always precious to me like pure drops of rain.
      I appreciate you, Alex!

      1. Awww, yes, we feel it in the core of our being. You are so welcome, my dear poetic friend. As I’ve said many, many times, your poetry is deeply profound. One could easily get lost in the world you create in your poetry. I am happy to be able to read you. Peace and respect, poet 🙂
