You are beautiful

Tear off the mask, your face is glorious”— Rumi

Unscathed beams of sunshine ripple along your pious cheeks,
There lie a canopy of precious words,
decorating your soul with white beauty,
where rivers of unruffled jasmine travel.
The scent is you, like a home of lavender candles
burning your mind, your beautiful mind.
Fabrication of art and beauty lies in your smile
Titanic view of sunrays, a holy reflection of poetry.
Seduction of smells entices your body like an opening of a lotus.
You evolve like the skin of the moon.
So, I become your hidden reflection.

  1. Such a wonderful, poetic description of self-discovery to feast one’s eyes on this morning. Every line you write reveals the layer being peeled back, exposing the realization that your outward beauty lies in the reflection of a soul that burns brighter than any sun. Your use of ‘unscathed’ to describe the beams of sunshine tells of the purity of those rays, unmarred by anything as they pierce the atmosphere to touch those cheeks, exposing the beautiful lines of poetry you are. Again you use ‘unruffled’ to describe the movement of jasmine in a river of passion that is unhindered, not affected by anything else. The ultimate image is of the poet, writing her words on blank sheets, and as those words appear on the page it is like the moon begins to reflect the rays of sunlight, showing the poet that what she has written is really the beauty that she is. I love how you attack the senses in your poetry, giving us opportunity to feel your words, to smell them, to taste them and to hear them. With each piece you write, pieces of your mask continue to fall and eventually, the poet is left, laying naked to the world, so all might know her. As always, dear Devika, you’ve painted a masterpiece with your words. I love this!!!

      1. Awww, you are more than welcome, Devika. I get great pleasure reading your words, taking my time to absorb every image and nuance before leaving my thoughts. I could write volumes on your poetry and have to restrain myself to limit the things I say because I know your time is precious.

I love this from beginning to end and I agree with the title 🙂 Such a beautiful poet you are!!! Happy writing, dear poet 🙂

  2. This is a very well-written piece Devika.
I don’t know that I would call you a “hidden reflection”
you are more like a candle placed in a room of mirrors
    infinitely reflecting.
    some days
    our thoughts
    are an image
    like a candle
    in a room
    of mirrors
    echoing back
    and forth
Have a nice day Star Diamond.
