The sweet innocent Palm.

The shambolic evening sings music

With petals of petunia in my thigh

I mock at the hypocrite crowd

The masked souls, enough of charcoal tonight

I shall burst my bubbles of insanity you say, for I am home to wild hills

Where the temple bell sing jingles to my arteries

Sinking in my color, the eccentric red blood

Coinciding with my footsteps, filling the craters of my lipstick

Filling the lacuna of my hairline

Giving it an atom of granite

Splendid marks will arise from my delight soul kissing even your dark loopholes

Will you do the same? Oh shame!

I have the meraki of dark silence comforted as butter in my palm

My sweet innocent innocuous palm.

  1. Your commanding and brilliant use of adjectives is second to none. You stimulate the imagination of the reader like fireworks on New Year’s Eve. I think my favourite here is how you cast aside the charcoal for more vibrant colours. It really shows that while you embrace your dark side, you also flourish in the light. I love how easily and almost imperceptibly you were able to juxtapose the darkness with the light in this poem. This is why you are such a great poet, Devika – you draw readers in, like sheep to their shepherd, and you hold them with your amazing ability to weave stories that touch hearts and souls, connecting us to your words, emotions and life force. Beautiful!! I think I have now read every thing you have posted and it feels good 🙂

      1. You need never apologize to me for not being able to always read me. I understand the poet’s mind and heart and soul.
I will also admit, I sensed your doubt in your work and wondered how could that be for you are one of the greatest poet’s I know.
When I say I love your words, I mean it. When I say I truly admire the poet behind those words, I mean that, too.
I am humbled by your comments to me but this is all you. I will always read you with the closeness your poetry deserves and I will always share my thoughts with you.
You are welcome, my dear writing friend 🙂

  2. I wanted to see where you started and here I am, in awe at how you weave words. I couldn’t help but write a poem for you, though I did not mention your name, but to me, you are the weaver. I hope it wasn’t too forward of me. I love your poetry and hope to one day excel at it as you do. ❤ ❤ ❤
